OpendTect is a complete, Open Source seismic interpretation system that is released under a triple licensing scheme: Open Source, Commercial and Academic. Under the Commercial and Academic License Agreements OpendTect can be extended with closed sourcepluginsfor added functionality. OpendTect itself runs without license managing software but all commercial plugins are protected by FlexLM license managing software. The usage fee for a commercial license of OpendTect is € 1.600,00 per user per annum. Plugin licenses are available as:
1- Perpetual license:subject to license fee and annual maintenance, update & support fees. 2- Temporary license:subject to monthly or annual rental fees.
Clients can pick and choose any combination of plugins to create the system that meets their needs. Logical sets of plugins have been combined into packages for typical G&G tasks. These packages are licensed on a per annum basis against attractive rental prices.
Any developer who believes (s)he has developed a plugin that is worth sharing (free or commercially) with the OpendTect user community is requested to contact

Delivers unique, game-changing technology. A HorizonCube (new in v4.2) consists of a dense set of correlated 3D stratigraphic surfaces. Each horizon in the HorizonCube represents a (relative) geologic time line. Horizons are created either in a model-driven way (stratal / proportional slicing, parallel to upper / lower), or in a data-driven way via a unique dip-steered auto-tracker. HorizonCubes impact all levels of seismic interpretation. They are used for: 1) detailed geologic model building, 2) low frequency model building for seismic inversions, 3) well correlations and sequence stratigraphic interpretation (SSIS).
The Well Correlation Panel plugin ( new in v4.2) is used for picking well markers and correlating markers guided by seismic evidence. In combination with the HorizonCube the interpreter can use the HorizonCube slider for detailed seismic-steered correlations.
The SSIS plugin (Sequence Stratigraphic Interpretation System) is (as of v4.2) an add-on to the HorizonCube. SSIS supports full sequence stratigraphic analysis, including automated Wheeler transforms, systems tracts interpretations and annotations.
The dip-steering plugin allows you to create and use "steering cubes". A steering cube contains at every sample position the local dip and azimuth of the seismic events.
Allows you to grab a 3D scene in OpendTect and to save it in pdf format. The pdf file can then be shared with colleagues, managers and partners who can open it in the free Adobe Reader, or embedded in a Powerpoint presentation.
Deterministic Inversion includes a 3D model builder for constructing a priori impedance models using well log and seismic horizon data; a 2D error grid generation module for providing spatial inversion constraints and a model-based deterministic inversion module.
Stochastic Inversion includes the MPSI ultraFast stochastic inversion module for generating multiple geostatistical realizations and the utilities for processing the multiple realizations to represent the inversion uncertainty for lithology, porosity, saturation or other attributes as probability cubes. This plug-in group also requires the purchase of the deterministic inversion plug-in group
